Kelly has had a lifelong interest in food and how it affects people. Inspired by her grandmother's love, and how the food she prepared joined people together in celebration, Kelly's deepest desire was to recreate the togetherness and happiness that food and celebrations bring. She began her career in food at the age of 16 by flipping burgers and frying up French Fries! After high school she went on to study culinary arts at Johnson & Wales University, obtaining an A.A.S in Culinary Arts.
Kelly's personal and professional interest in a vegetarian and eventually vegan lifestyle began after she encountered many unexplainable health issues in college, some leading to hospitalization. In pursuit of answers, Kelly obtained a B.S. in Culinary Nutrition. It was through this program and a graduate internship requirement that she came to learn about the Hippocrates Health Institute.
At the Hippocrates Health Institute, Kelly embraced the raw food lifestyle and all of her health challenges soon disappeared. She was and continues to be both fascinated and enthralled by the power of the Hippocrates program. Shortly thereafter, Kelly became Hippocrates' Executive Chef. She embraced the challenge of preparing foods that were not only healing and pure, but also had enough taste appeal to inspire guests to prepare them when they returned home and simply change their entire lifestyles! Little did she know that inspiring guests would be so simple - simply by being an example and by being true, real and down-to-earth about what she most believes and acts upon.
Kelly believes that her mission is to pour her energy, love and positive attitude into the food, and through this, the process of preparing heavenly and diving foods becomes effortless. Kelly's goal is to prepare food as well as teacher people in ways which foster healing and growth, and that are practical for everyday life of any person. Her greatest reward, which is constant and endless, is seeing people transform themselves from dull and dying to alive and radiant. Kelly is the proud mother of a healthy son, Noah Serbonich, and resides in the Finger Lakes Region of New York State. Prior to giving birth, she was a chef at the world-renowned Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, NY. |
